environmental education and community involvement programs.
We are now offering comprehensive
environmental education opportunities
for K-12 classrooms. Programs
are designed to engage students by
encouraging them to explore their
natural world in order to better
understand how our actions impact
our environment.
Project Learning Green
Based on years of experience we have created a new education
model that focuses on assisting educators and schools in meeting
their curriculum requirements while stimulating students’ critical and
creative thinking skills. We accomplish our goals through school
and neighborhood-based learning activities and projects that teach
children to think green!
Explore nature and observe how organisms survive and interact
with each other and their environment
Engage children using the scientific method
Educate about the importance of preserving natural resources
for future generations
Tree Keeper Kids
Examine trees inside and out in a fun activity filled day of learning.
Students will see what its like to live as a tree and explore all of its wonders. Grades: K4-2 Time: Varies Fee: Varies Offered: Most School Holidays (call for more information)
Junior Urban Forester
Through this intensive 8wk program, students will explore our urban forest
including everything from tree anatomy to tree care. Students will understand
the impotant role of an urban forester and be trained to become young
stewards of our trees. Grades: 3-6 Time: 8 week commitment required (call for more information) Service Learning Projects
KGMB will work with schools on community
based beautification projects ranging from
litter cleanups to tree plantings. Students will
have the opportunity to be involved in an
organized service that enhances their
coursework and their role in the community
as well as inspiring them to be stewards of
the environment. Grades: 9-12 Time: varies Fee: Call for more information
Understanding Urban Trees
What are the benefits of trees? What services do they offer? Students will examine
our urban forest and the important role that trees play in our air, soil, water quality
and our ecosystem as a whole. They will learn the value of trees in sustaining
life and become stewards of the trees in their community. Grades: K4-6 Time: 1 hour Fee: $2.50/student Offered: M-T-W
Waste in Place
What do you consider trash? Where does all that trash go? The issues of litter and
landfills will be explored. Students will learn all about the 3R’s (reduce, reuse,
recycle) and how they can make a cleaner, healthier community using this simple
lesson. They will learn how to properly recycle and get to see examples of how
materials are transformed into new products. Students are also given a unique opportunity
to tour the Materials Recovery Facility and see real recycling in action! Grades: 1-12 Time: 1-1.5 hr Fee: $2.50/student* Offered: T-W-Th-F *Mini Grants are available to Milwaukee Schools Program Location: Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful Office (groups must provide own transportattion)

Trash Art
Students will use arts and crafts to explore the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle). They
will be encouraged to think creatively about how to find ordinary materials that
can be transformed into art. They will discover ideas of how to beautify their
schools and neighborhoods as they make masterpieces out of everyday trash. Grades: K4-3 Time: 1 hour Fee: $2.50/student Offered: M-T-W-Th
Energy and the Environment
What is energy? Where does it come from? Students will gain an understanding
of energy uses and its different sources. They will be challenged to examine how
humans’ energy consumption affects nature and brainstorm solutions of how we
can move towards a more sustainable future. Grades: 4-12 Time: 1 hour Fee: $2.50/student Offered: T-W-Th
Green Ambassador
What makes a “green” school or neighborhood? Students will identify ways
they can make a difference where they live and learn by selecting a beautifi-
cation or improvement project in which they gain problem solving skills in an
action orientated learning process. Students will understand how to address
problems, develop a plan of action, and learn how to educate others on their
issue.
They become environmental leaders in their school and community. Grades: 3-8 Time: varies Fee: Call for more information
Every Drop Counts
Students will explore water from a single drop to a body of water. They will become
aware of the different sources of water whether it be a lake or their faucet
and be able to link them together. They will focus on the human impact on our
water quality and supply. They will examine their own water usage and simple
ways that they can conserve water. Every drop really does count! Grades: 1-12 Time: 1 hour Fee: $2.50/student Offered: T-W-Th
