Education  

Community Educator Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to assist KGMB staff with environmental education workshops for adults at KGMB's building and outreach venues. These volunteer opportunities are year-round. Volunteers will be trained in various topics. This position would assist in coordinating the Recycling Raiders, present at community events and meetings.

Volunteer Environmental Educator

Volunteers are needed to assist KGMB staff with fieldtrips (usually school children). Volunteer would help with interactive waste reduction and recycling projects, water, energy and urban forestry education. Outreach opportunities are also available year-round in which the candidate would travel to a facility and give a presentation to a groups.

Bring environmental education to thousands of people through fun activities. Help kids make toys from trash, facilitate games, get people to sign up for door prizes, and take photos of the event. Must enjoy having tons of fun! Shifts of three hours are available. Volunteers receive free admission to Irish Fest.

 

Recycling Raiders
How can we help our community become better recyclers and enjoy the festival season. Join the Recycling Raiders. This group will be dedicated to helping outdoor events recycle and as well as distributing information to those who attend the event.

Recycle Your Sneaker
Help us implement an exciting, new shoe recycling initiative. You will count shoes, coordinate with participating partners to collect used athletic shoes, report tallies and seek promotional opportunities. This program is a partnership with the City of Milwaukee to collect used sneakers and recycle the rubber within them into a school or neighborhood playground. This is an RSVP opportunity.

Photograph KGMB events and volunteers. Prefer if you have your own camera. Times will vary based on dates of events. Admission to event is provided, as well as parking permits if necessary. Experience in 35mm or digital photography helpful, amateur is ok.

ResourceCenter Assistant
Volunteers are needed to assist KGMB staff with fieldtrips (usually school children). Marketing and Development

Marketing
Volunteer will coordinate and implement KGMB’s marketing plan; Update various marketing materials; Write, research, and edit for KGMB newsletters, and brochures; draft and disseminated press releases. Assist with other marketing administrative tasks as needed.

Volunteer Coordinator
The coordinator will assist the Education & Outreach manager in the designing, implementation and evaluation of this program. The coordinator will recruit track and train volunteers. Assist at events for staffing as needed. Design volunteer newsletter and other educational enhancements for our volunteers.

Internships

Education Internship
Assist the Education Manager in the implementation and development of educational programs school and outreach programs. Educational programs are Waste in Place (waste reduction/management) From Trees to Ecosystems (urban forestry/natural history), Every Drop Counts (water education/conservation), Energy and the Environment (energy education/conservation) and TrashArt (waste reduction/art)

Intern will work on an education project which will include lesson plan creation and project implementation. We offer mini-internship & full internships.

Special Event Planner - Internship
We are seeking a highly motivated intern can multitask to help us development and implementation one of these event areas. All events are used to education about environmental issues. Intern will take key roles in event planning including; organization hands-on educational area, information sections, Environmental organizations tables, etc. Other duties development and marketing for event.

Marketing & Development Internship
Students interested in gaining experience in marketing (public relations, communications and development) for a not-for-profit organization non-paid Marketing & Development Intern positions. Intern will research potential foundation and corporate supporters for kind and in-kind donations. Interns will draft letters, proof-reading grant proposals as needed. Develop and update various marketing materials; Interns will write, research, and edit for KGMB newsletters, and brochures; draft and disseminated press releases; Develop and maintain list of media contacts; help with administrative tasks as needed; Assist in planning and executing KGMB events; Miscellaneous duties as needed.

Green Thumb Corp
Joining KGMB's Green Thumb Corp you make a difference through action. Be apart of Keeping Milwaukee Beautiful by planting trees. The Green Thumb Corp is a seasonal volunteer opportunity. You will be trained in appropriate planting and care techniques. If you like to get dirty and love the beauty that comes from a healthy "green" community. Signup.
