KGMB offers an exciting way for scouts to explore the environment. Programs are $5 per scout and can be any week night and can begin as late as 5 PM. Scout programs are listed under programs and field trips for online registration.

 

Boy Scout Programs

KGMB can help Boy Scouts work towards a variety of badges including the Environmental Science Merit Badge, Sustainability Merit Badge, Pulp & Paper Merit Badge, Water and Soil Conservation Merit Badge, Gardening Merit Badge, and the Energy Merit Badge.  Contact the Education Coordinator to set up your program today!

Cub Scout Programs

KGMB can assist Cub Scouts earn the following advancements:

Wolf: Council Fire

Where do your recyclables go once you put them in the bin? Come and see! We’ll look at what belongs in the bin and then visit the MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) observation room to see the bales of materials. We’ll play fun games and explore different products made from recycled materials in this fun program that meets requirement 6 for the Wolf Adventure: Council Fire.

Bear: Paws for Action

Join in the fun! We’ll learn actions you can take to make the environment a better place for everyone! We’ll use the Pedal Power Energy Bike to learn about how we make and use energy and then we’ll explore ways we can use less. We’ll also visit the MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) to learn about what happens to all of the recyclables we put in the bin. Finally, we’ll outfit your group with garbage bags and grabbers to do a mini cleanup. Want to go on a bigger cleanup? Hike along the river on the Hank Aaron State trail or take supplies home with you to cleanup your neighborhood. This program meets requirement 3 for Bear Adventure: Paws for Action.

Webelos and Arrow of Light: Building a Better World

Build a better world with us! We’ll explore all the things you can do to make our world more sustainable. We’ll learn how we make energy and how we can conserve it. We’ll get an up close look at how energy is generated using our Pedal Power bike and see how renewable energy sources can help solve energy problems. Finally, we’ll visit the MRF (Materials Recovery Facility) to learn about recycling and see what happens to all of your papers, bottles, and cans. This program addresses requirements 6, 7, and 8 for the Arrow of Light Adventure: Building a Better World.

Daisy: Clover Petal

In our Ready, Set, Recycle: Daisy Clover Petal! program we will talk about using resources wisely by learning about recycling and doing a fun Trash Art activity at our KGMB Education Center.  Ask about how your troop can do a neighborhood cleanup using KGMB’s supplies!

In our Ready, Set, Recycle: Daisy Rose Petal! program we will talk about how we can make the world a better place by talking about litter, reducing our trash, and how we can make our community more beautiful at our KGMB Education Center.  Ask about how your troop can do a neighborhood cleanup using KGMB’s supplies!
